Dr. Freddie I. Barnes

Rev. Dr. Freddie I. Barnes is a pastor by calling with a civic and prophetic mindedness that has committed him to serve in many public and institutional settings.  Dr. Barnes’ Doctorate of Ministry degree in Social Ethics has enabled him to effectively lead pastoral ministries and community activities for more than twenty years.   Dr. Barnes founded and pastored churches, religious and community organizations in Virginia and North Carolina.  He often holds significant leadership positions in religious and civic organizations due to his proven credentials and experience as an effective preacher, teacher, strategic planner, and community organizer.  Additional expertise in conflict mediation and leadership development increase his value to any organization.  Dr. Barnes has successfully worked with marginalized communities to build economic capacity.  As a reserve chaplain in the Navy, Dr. Barnes served with Marines in Iraq which enhanced his skills of resolving complex crisis situations.  Rev. Dr. Barnes’ numerous awards include: Navy Achievement Medal (2), Military Volunteer Service Award, Iraqi Campaign Medal (2), Dillard Alumni Award, General Baptist State Convention Service Award, Humanitarian and Community Service Awards from local and state fraternities and sororities.  Dr. Barnes is married to the former Sandra Marie Brown and they are the proud parents of two sons, Jairus Ivan and Jamar Izaia. The Barnes family makes their home in Goldsboro, NC.
